Other Stuff: Read/Write Web, AltSearchEngines and SearchMash

An excellent weblog which I highly recommend subscribing to is Read/Write Web. Why? Techno-News. Here’s a clip from their “About” page… Read/Write Web is a popular weblog that provides Web Technology news, reviews and analysis. It is the lead blog in the Read/WriteWeb Network, a growing network of blogs about web technology – the other sites are Last100 (a blog about Digital Lifestyle), AltSearchEngines (about search) and Read/WriteTalk (podcasts covering people behind the Web). Read/WriteWeb began publishing on April 20, 2003 and is now one of the most widely read and respected blogs in the world. It is edited by Richard MacManus and is written by a team of Web enthusiasts”.

AltSearchEngines recently posted an item about Health Search Engines (Sept 4, 2007) worth reading.

Read/Write Web is where I read about SearchMash. This newer search engine is owned by Google (and you can see the similarities to its parent!). Here are some features about SearchMash.

Try a search for yourself: use ‘evidence based medicine‘ and see what comes up. Note the blue boxes on the right side of the pagelinks to Images, Blogs, Videos or Wikipedia [about Evidence Based Medicine]. Great stuff! I like this beta site.
