News, Clinical Education, USMLE: Learn those Heart Sounds

This spring, on the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) website, a change in the format of the tests was announced (on Apr 14 2008 ):

A small number of multiple-choice items with associated audio and/or video clips will be introduced into the USMLE Step 1 Examination beginning in mid- to late May 2008. No more than 5 items with associated media clips will appear in a single examination….

Students and residents, please note the addition of a test component requiring correct identification of individual heart sounds and murmurs (for Step 1) starting in Fall 2008.
